Dr. Greg Albert Releases His Report Regarding Plastic Surgery Procedures and Who is Getting Them
(PRWEB) September 25, 2007 -- Dr. Gregory Albert, one of the most respected plastic surgeons on the East coast is speaking out with his views on plastic surgery and who should benefit by its healing powers.
Ever wonder who's getting plastic surgery? Dr. Albert says for the most part, it's women. Statistics compiled by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery show that of the 11.5 million cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures done in 2006, over 90% were preformed on women. In fact, surgical procedures for women showed a modest annual increase of 2%, while they were down 8% for men. 2007's figures are leaning in the same direction.
Dr. Albert adds that people ages 35-50 years are the most likely to have a cosmetic procedure done, accounting for nearly half of procedures, compared with just 4% of people 65 and older. The most common cosmetic surgery procedure is liposuction, with over 5 million procedures done in 2006. The area of the body most affected were the breasts. Lifts, augmentations, and breast reductions for both men and women all became more common. Breast lifts increased by nearly 10%, and breast augmentations by nearly one-quarter. Breast augmentation was also the most common procedure among women ages 19-34.
Albert feels that in terms of non-surgical cosmetic procedures that the top five most common procedures were Botox, laser hair removal, hyaluaronic acid (Restylane), Juvadern and chemical peels.
"The dividing line between cosmetology and cosmetic surgery is getting growing thinner," says Albert. He adds that sometimes it only takes a healthier lifestyle to maintain a youthful appearance and that surgery is not always the way to go. If you can keep a balance of nutrition, exercise and skin care you can help ward off the damage that aging does to your body. And also key is maintaining a positive attitude in your thoughts and actions. Inner peace provides a boost of self-confidence that makes you feel good and look good. Good health in the physiological sense is extremely important.
"We must become more aware of the kind of good physical health that we associate with a strong body and mind," says Albert. "Good healthy eating and consistent exercise factor in. "Not only will you feel better and get a better report from the doctor, but you will definitely look better."
